TURKEY@EUROPE_WEEK To mark the passing of one year since Europe opened negotiations with Turkey to join the EU

To mark that it will be one year since Turkey began accession talks with the European Union, TÜSIAD is organising Turkey@Europe_Week. As Turkey’s economy grows, the Turkish business community is committed in driving forward the agenda for EU accession. From 3 to 5 October 2006 Brussels, Paris and Berlin will host a series of political, business and cultural events as part of Turkey@Europe_Week.
Turkey@Europe_Week will offer a mix of events for various audiences: from press briefings to high-level political meetings and classical music concerts, the Week will also include a cartoon exhibition in Paris, a ceramic display in Berlin and a photograph exhibition in Brussels.
Speakers at these events will include: Mr. Ömer Sabanci, TÜSIAD President will lead the TUSIAD delegation who will host these meetings and events. Representatives of the Turkish government and European Union officials will also be participating in the events of Turkey@Europe_Week.
In Brussels TUSIAD, in collaboration with the European Policy Center, is organizing a conference entitled ‘Europe’s Global Challenges and Turkey’. This conference will be preceded by a press conference given by key note speakers from the Turkish political and economic scene. In addition, TÜSIAD Brussels offers two cultural events: a photograph exhibition by Ara Güler and a concert given by the Borusan Philharmonic Orchestra.
In Paris, TUSIAD will collaborate with the Foundation Innovation Politique to organize a seminar on Europe’s Global Challenges and Turkey. In addition, two cultural events will be organized: an exhibition of cartoons by Jean Plantu (cartoonist Le Monde) and Piyale Madra (cartoonist Radikal, Turkish daily). Furthermore, the Tekfen philharmonic orchestra, composed of musicians from countries of the Black Sea Economic Partnership and from the Caspian and Eastern Mediterranean, will give a concert.
In Berlin, a lunch debate session on the topic "Turkey's Integration Process & Turkish-German Relations" will take place. High ranking political and economic representatives as well as journalists will participate. On the panel are Turkish and German government representatives, and representatives of BDI, German Marshall Fund and the largest Turkish companies. In addition, TÜSIAD Berlin offers two cultural events: a ceramic exhibition by Mehveş Demiren and a concert given by the Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra.
